Another activity of the Projeto Caatinga team is the transplanting of native species’ seedlings, produced in a trial testing the effect of different shading percentage (0, 30, 50, 70%) on these plants, to area to be recovered. This task aims to get parameters to recover degraded semiarid areas. The studied area is about 700 m². Nineteen plant species were introduced in the area (about 50 seedlings of each species). Seedlings were grouped by species. The project wants to understand aspects such as survival and growth rate of these plants in field.
